FSI provides a wide range of professional support services to clients within the Department of Defense (DoD), including multiple program offices within the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). FSI personnel are experts in program and acquisition management, risk management, requirements management, and budget analysis. For example, within program and risk management, FSI developed integrated master schedules, managed shipboard installation plans, fielding plans, briefing materials, and budgetary reports in support of program requirements for an Acquisition Category (ACAT) II program. In addition, as a Risk Management lead for the enterprise, FSI established a flexible and user-friendly risk management program that integrated an existing Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software tool with standardized business rules. The enterprise framework (over 200 programs and 2000 users utilizing a common tool) eliminated the necessity to maintain disparate documents and spreadsheets through the deployment of an enterprise plan and software solution, which utilized a web-based system that provides online collaboration for multiple Navy and DoD organizations.

Within acquisition management, FSI has served as the contract support lead for multiple ACAT I, II and III programs within SPAWAR. For example, within an ACAT 1D program, FSI was responsible for providing acquisition and contracting expertise, and ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements were met in order to achieve major milestones in accordance with DoDI 5000.2. FSI supported engagements with the Office of the Chief of Naval Operation, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics. The FSI team successfully completed Navy acquisition process gates 3, 4 and 5, which led to a Material Development Decision and approval to proceed to Milestone B.
